Your Guide to Becoming a Mississippi Surrogate

What is Surrogacy?

Gestational surrogacy refers to when a woman agrees to carry and deliver a baby on behalf of someone else. Gestational surrogates are not the child’s biological mother as no genetic link between the two exists. The embryo that is implanted into the surrogate is created from the intended parents and/or respective donors.

Surrogacy in Mississippi

At this time, Mississippi has no statutes or laws about surrogacy and is considered to be a fairly favorable place to pursue a surrogacy arrangement. Although you can legally become a gestational surrogate in Mississippi, the lack of laws can make the legal process somewhat difficult to predict. Before starting a surrogacy arrangement in Mississippi, it’s best to first connect with an experienced surrogacy agency to ensure that everyone’s interests will be protected throughout the process.

Surrogate Requirements in Mississippi

Before joining our surrogacy program, you must fulfill our list of gestational surrogate requirements, all of which exist to protect your health and safety, as well as that of the child you carry:

  • You must be a non-smoker
  • Your BMI is between 18 and 33
  • You have given birth previously with no medical complications and less than three cesarean sections
  • You are between 21 and 44 years of age; if you are an experienced surrogate who is older, exceptions may be made

When we receive your surrogate application we’ll review it closely. If our requirements are fully met, and we feel confident to move forward with your application, we’ll connect with you directly.

Surrogate Pay in Mississippi

In Mississippi, gestational surrogates are generously compensated to account for their commitment to helping someone else have a child. The compensation package for surrogates in Mississippi includes a base fee, which typically starts around $35,000 for one fetus. If the surrogate carries multiple fetuses at one time, she can earn an additional $5,000 as part of the base fee. Surrogate benefits and other expenses related to any aspect of surrogacy are all covered by the compensation package. As such, surrogates can earn up to $60,000 per cycle. In some cases, if the surrogate has already completed a successful surrogacy journey, she may receive higher compensation.

How to Become a Surrogate in Mississippi, Step by Step

Step 1: Fill Out an Application

The surrogate application requests information regarding your medical history, with a strong focus on your pregnancy and delivery histories.

Step 2: Complete the Surrogate Screening

Our team will review your application in full and if we determine that you meet our requirements, then congratulations! You are one step closer to joining our surrogate program. We will contact you directly so that we can interview you, talk about your application in more detail, and get a better sense of who you are as a person.

Step 3: Create a Surrogate Profile

If you are accepted into our program, we will create your surrogate profile. This is the profile that will be used to first “introduce” you to prospective intended parents. Rest assured, the profile will contain no private details – information such as your full name or address will be kept completely confidential. Instead, the profile will have an overview of your medical details, personality, and other characteristics.

Step 4: Get Matched With Intended Parents

To begin the matching process, we host separate meetings with each party to determine if a match can be confidently made. If so, we’ll move forward to book a group meeting where essential topics will be discussed. Some of the topics we will cover during this group meeting include communication preferences, what happens in the event of multiples, where everyone stands on pregnancy reduction/termination, and what forms of support everyone has in their lives.

If an agreement can be made on these topics, then you will be matched and start the next steps of the process. During this time, our team will continue to facilitate communication between all parties.
